Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) released its latest survey of the electability of presidential candidates (capres) following the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the age limit for presidential and vice-presidential candidates. Prabowo Subianto is currently ahead, followed by Ganjar Pranowo and Anies Baswedan.
According to detikNews, the survey was conducted on 16-18 October 2023 with 1,229 respondents. The survey was conducted by telephone with the target survey population being Indonesian citizens aged 17 years or married.
The survey was carried out after the Constitutional Court decided that presidential and vice-presidential candidates under the age of 40 could run as long as they had experience as regional heads.
Sample selection was carried out through random digit dialing (RDD). RDD is a technique for selecting samples through a random telephone number generation process.
The survey was conducted by telephone interview by trained interviewers. The national population rate that can be reached by telephone is 83%. Margin of error ±2.9% with a confidence level of 95%.
LSI researcher Djayadi Hanan delivered a simulation of the top presidential candidacy after the MK decision. Djayadi said Prabowo Subianto was ahead with 35.8%, followed by Ganjar with 30.9% and Anies with 19.7%.
“This is the position in mid-October after the Constitutional Court’s decision. If the presidential election were held now with these 3 names, Prabowo Subianto would get 35.8%, Ganjar Pranowo 30.9% followed by Anies Baswedan 19.7%,” said Djayadi in his presentation, Sunday (22/10/2023).
