Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has opened its voice regarding the potential discovery of ‘treasure’ in the form of natural hydrogen gas by the Geological Agency in Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Dadan Kusdiana explained that currently the Geological Agency itself has carried out research in the field to check the content of natural hydrogen gas.
“We haven’t called it hydrogen because we’re still confirming it, it’s still at the Geological Agency for inspection and it’s been in the field, but it’s been a long time since it was said to have appeared, in fact it can be burned, later it will be hydrogen in another form,” said Dadan at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building. , Friday (27/10/2023).
Furthermore, Dadan explained that the use of hydrogen can actually be used in many applications. For example, for the industrial sector and transportation sector.
“If you look at it, there are two, industry and transportation. I haven’t seen it yet for households. The direction for industry is now to use hydrogen sources in the form of heat. If it uses electricity, there’s no need to make hydrogen in industry, just green electricity,” he said.
Previously, the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources discovered the potential for natural hydrogen at the One Pute Jaya hot springs location, in Morowali.
Geologist from the Geological Agency, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indra Sanjaya, said that based on the results of temporary research carried out in Morowali Regency since October 2023, his party identified the potential for natural hydrogen in hot springs in the One Pute Jaya area.
According to him, the research currently being carried out is still in the initial research stage and hydrogen gas samples have been taken. So further research is still needed.
