Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Artificial intelligence (AI) is often said to be a threat in the future and could replace professions normally done by humans.
Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir also warned the younger generation to be creative in developing the economy.
Because, the challenges of the future are not only changes in digitalization but also AI.
“If we look to the future, there will be no changes called digitalization of AI,” he said when met at the Smesco building in Jakarta, some time ago.
Erick said that with the presence of AI, the young generation must be prepared for the loss of a number of job positions and professions. It is estimated that as many as 85 million jobs will be lost.
“Another challenge when Indonesia is pushed to create jobs. World Economic data states that 85 million jobs have been lost compared to 67 million that have grown,” he said.
15 Professions Replaced by AI
In the World Economic Forum (WEF) report entitled Future of Work, the technological revolution is predicted to become more massive, driven by artificial intelligence and automation.
Research in the same report noted that 23% of the workforce in all fields will change completely in the next 4 years. Namely, there are those that disappear and new professions that emerge.
Industries that will change in this time span include media, entertainment and sports. It is estimated that around 32% of jobs from this industry will disappear or create new professions.
Apart from that, a number of fields will also experience drastic shifts, starting from government, digital communications and information technology, real estate, financial services, as well as transportation and supply chains.
The WEF released a list of 15 jobs that will disappear in the 2023-2027 range. Here’s the list:
Bank tellers
Postman
Cashier and counter
Data entry
Secretary and administration
Stock registrar (stock-keeping) staff
Accounting, bookkeeping and payroll staff
Legislators and government officials
Statistics, insurance and finance staff
Door-to-door sales, street vendors, and newspaper sellers
Security guard
Credit and loan manager
Claims investigators and examiners
Software tester
Relationship manager
