Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – A number of epidemiologists, or experts in the field of investigating the pattern and spread of a disease, predict that cases of monkey pox in Indonesia will continue to increase. Even though as of October 25 2023 there were only 14 confirmed cases of monkey pox, experts predict that the number of confirmed monkey pox patients could reach 3,600 cases by the end of the year.

It should be noted that cases of monkey pox caused by the monkeypox virus will become a global concern in 2022. In fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) last year declared an emergency status for monkey pox. However, at that time Indonesia only confirmed one positive case.
Prevention of monkey pox
The following are recommended preventive measures to avoid monkey pox
- Not changing sexual partners
- Do not engage in oral, anal and vaginal sex or touch the genitals or anus of someone who has monkey pox
- Don’t hug, massage, kiss, or talk at very close range
- Do not touch cloth and objects during sex that are used by monkeypox sufferers, such as bedding, towels and sex toys.
