Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Lebanon’s Hezbollah leader met with top leaders of Palestinian militant factions Hamas and Islamic Jihad, and discussed what their alliance must do to “achieve real victory for the resistance”.
As part of an Iran-backed regional alliance, heavily armed Hezbollah has exchanged daily fire with Israeli forces along the Israel-Lebanon border since war broke out between Israel and Hamas on October 7.
The meeting included Hezbollah’s Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Hamas Deputy Chairman Saleh al-Arouri, and Islamic Jihad chief Ziad al-Nakhala. Hezbollah disclosed the meeting in a statement but did not say when it took place.
“An assessment was made of the international position taken and what the Axis of Resistance must do… to realize a real victory for the resistance in Gaza and Palestine and to stop the brutal aggression,” Hezbollah was quoted as saying Reuters.
“There is agreement to continue coordination.”
Hezbollah announced on Wednesday that two of its fighters had been killed, raising the group’s death toll to 40 since the start of the conflict.
The war that occurred claimed thousands of lives. More than 6,500 Palestinian deaths were recorded and more than 1,400 Israeli deaths.
