Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The iPhone 15 series, which was only released last September, is unlikely to be able to boost Apple’s revenue growth in the final quarter of 2023.
A report from the Jefferies analyst team shows that Apple’s position as the number 1 cellphone king in China has been replaced by Huawei. iPhone sales growth decreased significantly to double digits.
A report from the firm Counterpoint Research quoted by Bloomberg said that sales of the iPhone 15 were 4.5% lower in the first 17 days after launch, when compared to the iPhone 14.
Initially, demand for the iPhone 15 in China exceeded analysts’ expectations. In a matter of minutes, the flagship series was sold out.
However, after several weeks of launch, it turns out that interest in the iPhone 15 has dropped sharply. In fact, now its sales figures have lost to the iPhone 14 in the same period.
Quoted from AppleInsiderTuesday (17/10/2023) the launch of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro in China several weeks before the iPhone 15 was released could be one factor.
In addition, rumors that the Xi Jinping government will block iPhones within the government and government-affiliated companies, add to Chinese citizens’ doubts about buying the iPhone 15.
The iPhone 15 is predicted to be the HP series from Apple with the worst debut since 2018.
Counterpoint said one of the reasons for the decline in iPhone 15 performance was due to economic conditions in China which were still having difficulties post-Covid.
Even though sales performance in China did not meet expectations, analysts predict that sales in the United States (US) could experience double-digit growth.
