Jokowi’s Special Message Regarding AI Tech – 5 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Artificial intelligence (AI) technology is currently a hot topic of conversation throughout the world. Several countries are competing to dominate the technology which is said to be able to change the ‘future’ of humans.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto also highlighted the existence of AI which is also starting to reach the community in their daily activities.

“(The government) is also paying special attention to AI so that it is considered and used responsibly,” he said at Plataran City Forest, Jakarta, Tuesday (24/10) yesterday.

Furthermore, Airlangga also conveyed a message from Indonesian President Joko Widodo not to be afraid of the existence of AI.

“The president said there is no need to be afraid of AI,” he said.

However, until now there are no specific regulations to regulate AI in Indonesia. In principle, according to Airlangga, the application of AI must prioritize important things, so that it brings good benefits.

Airlangga said that AI regulation is very necessary so that it does not collide with state interests, public interests and also personal interests.

“AI must not conflict with national interests, AI must not conflict with private interests or individual interests,” he said.

Airlangga emphasized that the presence of AI must be in accordance with healthy competition. ASEAN countries have also prepared a Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) under Indonesia’s leadership. To fill this DEFA, the target is digitalization of the economy from the manufacturing sector downstream, integrating manufacturing and service.

“The digital ecosystem demands appropriate synergy and collaboration with the government and all levels of society to experience the acceleration of digital infrastructure,” he concluded.
