Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Many Indonesian students who graduated from foreign universities are reluctant to return to their homeland and choose to work in other countries. The reasons are varied, including regarding salaries as workers in Indonesian companies which are considered smaller than foreign companies.
The Special Presidential Staff of Putri Tanjung paid attention to this matter. He appealed to Indonesian graduates abroad to return to their homeland to develop the country.
According to him, students who graduate abroad have many perspectives and broad knowledge because they are used to living in different cultures. So, knowing the world’s needs and being able to bring Indonesia to compete on an equal footing globally.
“The point is to invite young people to go there or come here to contribute as much as possible to Indonesia. We need more young people,” he said at the Smesco building, Jakarta, Thursday (12/10/2023).
Putri told me a little, not all foreign graduates choose to work in other countries rather than their own. Two of his comrades succeeded in building a company in Indonesia and had an impact on the domestic economy.
“There are 2 of my friends here, Aris from SF, he makes local shoes, he works outside and still comes home. He built his own (company) and uses 100% recycled materials,” he said.
“Ale also (used to work) at a tech company, left, built a startup education. He opened up opportunities for many people to learn,” he said.
Putri added that she appreciated foreign graduates who still decided to return to Indonesia to contribute to developing the country.
“Things like that make me excited to go home because the people have made extraordinary contributions,” he concluded.
