Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of Communication and Information Service Task Force held a ‘Kick off Meeting’ with the Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie Setiadi on Monday (16/10/2023). On that occasion, Budi asked the Task Force to work quickly to complete its work.
“This task force must work precisely and quickly. I ask you to spare optimal time and energy to carry out this noble task. Good luck with your work, all the efforts we are making are for the progress of the Indonesian nation,” said Budi, quoted from the official Kominfo website, Tuesday (17/10/2023).
For information, the Task Force only has one year to oversee the acceleration of digital infrastructure completion in underdeveloped, frontier and outermost areas (3T). The task force will work from October 12 2023 to October 2024 or when Budi’s term of office of the Minister of Communication and Information expires.
He also explained the development of infrastructure in Indonesia which was the task of the Task Force. For example, as of 2021, there are 4,343 BTS on air and 617 BTS are said to be able to be turned on with the new umbrella contract.
Meanwhile, Satria-1 launched from Florida, United States (US) on June 19 2023. The new satellite will reach its destination at the end of December 2023 and is scheduled to be used starting next year.
“With a capacity of 150Gbps, the SATRIA-1 Satellite is projected to be able to provide internet of up to 4Mbps at every 50,000 public service locations. However, considering that until the end of December 2023, installation and integration will only be carried out next year,” he said.
The government is also preparing the Hot Backup Satellite (HBS) Satria-1. Currently renegotiations are being carried out with the Nusantrara Jaya Consortium.
“For the SATRIA-2 Project, the Ministry of Communication and Information is currently updating the feasibility study to adapt the satellite design to national satellite capacity needs,” said Budi.
Meanwhile for Palaparing, Bakti has built 446,712 km of fiber optic cable throughout Indonesia. Currently, an update is being made to the Pre-Study Final Service Document for the Palapa Paring Integration Business Case.
The update aims for Palaparing to become part of the national backbone network. “The Palapa Ring Integration Project has changed its status to a national strategic project,” he explained.
