There is IDR 11 Trillion in Funds to Spread the Internet to the Edge of RI Tech – 4 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Equal distribution of internet access to remote areas is one of the government’s current focuses. This can be seen from the budget prepared for provision which reached IDR 11 trillion.

This amount comes from 63% of the Ministry of Communication and Information’s budget which is distributed to the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (Bakti) for providing internet access. The Kominfo budget itself reaches IDR 19 trillion, meaning that Bakti gets IDR 11 trillion for internet distribution throughout the country.

“The posture of the service budget is 63% of the total Kominfo budget this year of IDR 19 trillion,” said the special staff of the Ministry of Communication and Information and Chair of the Communication and Information Service Task Force, Sarwoto Atmosutarno, in CNBC Indonesia ProfitsTuesday (17/10/2023).

Bakti itself has tasks ranging from building and preparing digital infrastructure, digital literacy and government digital transformation. To accelerate infrastructure development, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi announced the formation of the Communication and Information Service Task Force.

The Task Force’s task is to complete and provide solutions to a number of projects carried out by the community. Starting from building BTS, Palapa Ring fiber optic network, Hot Backup Satellite (HBS), and operating the Satria-1 satellite.

The task force was given one year to complete all this work. Budi gave his working period from October 2023 to October 2024, or when his term of office as Minister of Communication and Information expires.

“The aim of forming the task force is to give it the authority to provide direction, recommendations and solutions to Bakti to be followed up with work partners,” explained Sarwoto.

However, there is actually little work left. For example, another 1,277 BTS are not yet on air and 534 BTS have security problems that must be resolved in the field.

“Also, the use of the Satria-1 satellite has been launched and it is hoped that early next year it will serve a capacity of 50 thousand points, there is additional need for palaparing integration to support all community service services at 3T,” said Sarwoto.
