Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – WhatsApp will block access to a number of cellphones with older operating systems (OS). This policy will take effect on Tuesday (24/10/2023).
The Android cellphone that will have an impact is version 4.4.4. So for those of you who have used a cellphone with Android 5 or newer, you can still breathe a sigh of relief.
You can check what type of OS is used on the cellphone. Namely, by going to the Settings of the Android phone you are using, then click the About menu and Android Version.
For iPhone, only iPhone users with iOS 12 or later can still use WhatsApp after October 24, 2023.
However, this policy actually doesn’t have much of an impact on many WhatsApp users. Because there are not too many old Android and iPhone users.
For example, there are reportedly far fewer Android 4.4.4 users now. In fact, the newer version Android 6 is only used by 1.69% of all Android users as of May 2023.
Those of you who are still using a cellphone with an old OS and are on the block list must replace your cellphone with the latest operating system. That way you can keep using Whatsapp in the future.
