Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Most parts of Indonesia are still being hit by intense hot weather. This condition is predicted to continue until the end of October 2023.
Based on climatological data from 1991 to 2021, the average maximum temperature in a number of large Indonesian cities geographically located south of the equator reached its highest value in September and October.
According to observations by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the maximum temperature measured during September 2023 in several areas reached a range of between 35.4 and 38 degrees Celsius during the day. So, what causes the scorching hot weather in Indonesia?
Quoting from the upload of the official BMKG Instagram account (@infobmkg), one of the causes of sweltering hot weather in Indonesia is the minimal level of cloud growth, especially during the day. Apart from that, air humidity levels in a number of areas are relatively low.
“The apparent position of the sun shows movement south of the equator which has the impact of relatively more intense solar radiation on Indonesian territory,” wrote BMKG, quoted on Tuesday (17/10/2023).
According to BMKG predictions, hot and sweltering weather in several areas could still persist throughout October 2023. However, air temperatures are predicted to decrease in November 2023 as the season transitions.
“The decrease in temperature is predicted to start occurring in November in line with the start of the transition or transition period in several areas,” wrote BMKG.
