There is Israel-Gaza Conflict, MTV Cancels Europe Music Awards Lifestyle – 3 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) event which was supposed to be held on November 5, 2023 at Paris Nord Villepinte had to be cancelled. According to the organizers, the cancellation was made due to the volatility of world events amidst the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza, Thursday (19/10).

“As we watch the devastating events in Israel and Gaza continue to unfold, this is not an appropriate moment for global celebration.” said Paramount as the organizer of the event in an official statement, as quoted from Reuters.

They further said that now is a moment to mourn because thousands of victims have died as a result of the conflict.

Famous stars such as David Guetta, Jung Kook (BTS), Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Bad Bunny and Foo Fighters and Thirty Seconds to Mars were originally scheduled to appear at the annual event.

Paramount Global said it was acting out of an abundance of caution for the thousands of employees, crew members, artists, fans and partners who traveled from all corners of the world to bring the show to life.

“We look forward to hosting the MTV EMAs again in November 2024.”

The MTV Europe Music Awards are held in a different city every year. Last year’s event was held in Duesseldorf in western Germany.

Meanwhile, France, which has large Muslim and Jewish communities, has been on high alert since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 and the ongoing war in Gaza. On Wednesday, eight French airports faced security alerts and a number of people were evacuated for screening, aviation authority DGAC said.
