Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The sport of golf, which is synonymous with the upper middle class and therefore has an exclusive image, is now starting to be attracted by young people, especially Generation Z, since the Covid-19 pandemic.
Merchandising General Manager of Golf House, Tinneke Agustina, said that the Covid-19 pandemic was the peak of young people’s interest in golf. Not only men, women and children are also among the groups who like golf during the pandemic.
“During the Covid-19 pandemic, there were a lot of ‘Covid-19 golf players’ because they couldn’t go anywhere. At that time, the only activity they could do was golf because it was a safe sport, outside, calm, exposed to the sun, and physical distancing,” said Tinneke to CNBC Indonesia at Damai Indah Golf BSD, South Tangerang, Thursday (19/10/2023).
However, there are quite a few prospective new golf players who still don’t understand what the preparations are before starting to play golf.

According to Tinneke, the most important thing that must be prepared before playing golf is to prepare equipment, namely golf clubs and golf sports clothing, such as hats, collared shirts, trousers and belts.
“For beginners, basically everything is the same, there is drivers or club which is used for the first time. Second, fairway woods or direct iron set. That’s from number five through pitching wedge,” explained Tinneke.
“Then there is putter. So in one set it could be ten to 12 piecesit can be played golf,” continued Tinneke.
Furthermore, Tinneke advises beginners to hire the services of a coach who can teach basic golf playing techniques. According to him, this is important even if you are just playing golf for fun.
“It’s a good idea to hire a teacher so you can get the right technique for playing golf, even if it’s just for fun or planning to take part in a golf tournament,” said Tinneke.
