Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Shopee in collaboration with the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) launched the “Santri Ready to Export with Shopee” program. The launch was carried out at the 2023 National Santri Day celebration in Surabaya, East Java.
Via Shopee Barokah, one-stop platform Supporting Shopee’s Islamic lifestyle, there are around 1,000 students who will receive education, mentoring and open access to export markets. This program also received support from a number of ulama, including Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf.
The students’ products will be included in the Shopee Export Program and can be purchased by users from various countries in Southeast Asia, East Asia and Latin America.
The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, in his speech at the peak of Santri Day, said that santri are the pillars of strength of the nation and state. Jokowi also recalled the historical journey of Islamic boarding school students fighting for the interests of the nation, state and people. “As a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, we have more than 36,000 Islamic boarding schools, a major force that determines the future of the nation, determines leaps in the nation’s progress, and determines the success of the nation’s aspirations,” he said.
PBNU General Chair, Yahya Chalil Staquf appreciated Shopee Barokah’s efforts in expanding the market for students’ products to the world market. “This program is in line with the spirit of Jihad Santri Jayakan Negeri, where we all hope that students can be motivated to help develop and develop the country through products “Local products, following MSMEs which have already gone global,” explained the cleric who is familiarly called Gus Yahya.
Head of Public Affairs Shopee Indonesia, Radynal Nataprawira, said that the movement of 1,000 export-ready students will be a new momentum in facing the current challenges of jihad. “The President said that 36,000 Islamic boarding schools will become a big force. Through the santri export movement, it will be a momentum for a big movement to bring the nation’s name to the world stage which comes from the work of the santri,” he said.
A total of 1,000 students will take part in export training at the Shopee Export MSME Campus which is spread across 10 cities in Indonesia, including Solo, Bandung, Jakarta, Medan, Malang, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Samarinda, Makassar and Sanur.
