6 Signs of a fake job offer

So that people don’t get fooled by fake job vacancies like that, Jobstreet also shares tips for recognizing the signs of a fake job offer. The following is a summary:

1. Easy Job but Big Pay

Getting paid a large salary to do light tasks is a dream job scenario for anyone. However, some job offers like this can actually be fraudulent.

People who fall victim to fraud are usually attracted by the promise of high salaries and easy work, which is an ideal combination for those looking for part-time work or those with minimal work experience.

2. Offers Made to Personal Contacts

If someone offers you a job by contacting you via personal social media or even a private telephone number, it’s better to be careful. It could be that it is a fake job vacancy which could end up being a scam.

For official companies, usually to offer job vacancies to someone they will communicate via email, telephone or job vacancy application. Through this platform, the company’s true identity is displayed.

3. Electronic mail with a fake email address

If you get a job offer via email. The first thing that must be identified is whether the email address is official or not. If it looks unofficial, it means the job offer could be a scam.

If it comes from a private email address or one that is not associated with the company it claims to represent, then the job offer could be fraudulent.

4. The party offering the job asks for personal data

For companies that do open job vacancies, they will usually only be interested in things on the resume. Starting from work history, educational background, skills, and just basic personal information.

Beyond that, neither company actually uses any additional information. Especially if someone asks for detailed information about bank data or social security numbers. Be wary of job offers that ask for personal details that should not be shared.

5. Job Offer Without Application

If someone reaches out online with an immediate job offer, it could be a serious red flag. A job offer should come when there is a job application that involves submitting a resume and cover letter. You should be careful if an offer is made suddenly, especially if the offer is made directly to a personal contact.

6. Job Offer by Asking for Money

One method of fake job offers is to take large amounts of money from job seekers. They convince the victim to spend money as part of the job, with the promise of getting a larger amount at a later date.

If someone offers a job and asks for money like that, it is certain that it is a fake job offer that ends up being deceptive.
