Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Foreign tourists will be required to pay a fee of IDR 150 thousand or US$ 10 for one visit to Bali starting in 2024.
The results of these levies will become local revenue (PAD) for the Bali Provincial Government and will be used to build tourism infrastructure on the Island of the Gods.
Director of Regional Taxes and Regional Levies, Directorate General of Financial Balance, Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu), Sandy Firdaus, said that specifically for Bali, the regional government allows levies.
“Well, in Bali, with the revision of the Bali Law, this is possible. Well, if for other areas the Law does not state that there are levies that can be collected, the regional government cannot do it because it will become illegal later on. in principle,” he said, quoted Tuesday (17/10/2023).
Regarding the impact of the levy on tourist visits, Sandy said that his party would see its implementation in the next one to two years. However, he believes this will not be affected because tourists intend to go to Bali to spend money.
“Only later we can see what the impact will be in a year since this was implemented,” said Sandy.
Bali Governor I Wayan Koster said that foreign tourists are required to pay a fee of IDR 150 thousand for one visit to Bali starting in 2024. In this case, it will not follow the United States dollar exchange rate.
“We put it in rupiah so that he (foreign tourists) doesn’t follow the dollar exchange rate. We set it at IDR 150 thousand per visit to Bali,” explained Koster.
